Aust 56 Oval interior headliner - resto guide needed

hi, can anyone point to an online reference, preferably with photos that show examples of original headliner options for Australian Ovals. the car was imported to Australia as a CKD so would have had whatever was available here.
I need to know what choices of materials would have been fitted and exactly where they begin and end.
thanks.

Google might help find original pics but this might help.

The original Oval headliners were in mohair which isn't available these days. I think the only choice was beige or grey. Napp cloth is the go these days and there's beige, grey or Ivory.

The B pillars and under the rear windows should be in the vinyl of the upholstery.

If you're doing it yourself, you're starting at the highest degree of difficulty as far as fitting Beetle headliners goes.

There are hundreds of tiny cuts to make that single piece fit around the rear window. Cut 2mm too far and you've stuffed it.

That's a good place to start and the most difficult. Get it right and you're looking good for the rest.

The padding underneath is the crucial bit if you want the lining to look like it's meant to be there. Use the original where possible.

Use trimmers contact. It will allow you to release areas you've already glued if you need to relocate pieces ... and you will...many times.

You can use steam to get rid of the packaging wrinkles but they'll disappear naturally pretty quickly.

Cheers
Brad

thanks heaps guys, and those pics were exactly what I was looking for Brad, cheers.

We arent planning to do it ourselves but we definitely need to know the detail to instruct the motor trimmer as the local ones wouldnt know, understandably.
Thats a nice looking job.

one question, was there a poverty-pack model beetle option that had less areas upholstered? for example, just the main centre section?

They're not mohair. They're a synthetic look alike. (almost).
