Front discs?
I knew I'd have to get around to this eventually but just putting the question out there....Did discs come fitted to Oz beetles that had the 2 bolt
MacPherson struts and if so are there many around as I will want to change from the front drums soon.

Yep, every single one of them.
Supers were never sold in Australia with drum front brakes, your US import is about one of the only ones in the country with drums so don't chuck the
spindles out, they are handy for mounting Porsche calipers to.
Shame you didnt ask this 2 weeks ago, I just scrapped a 2 bolt 74Lbug and left all the brakes and suspension in it.

Isn't the spindle and Macpherson the same as that from a Mk1 Golf? If so helps broaden your search area

Golfs have the tierod mounting arm on the rear of the spindle, Supers on the front so the steering turns opposite ways and also being FWD the Golf
spindles are setup to have CV joints and axles mounted through them.
