Indian Boardtracker (Pic Heavy)
Thought I might share my latest bike build, having a go at a 1914 era Indian Boardtracker
getting close to where I want her, following a bit of a condensed build diary.
First twist she will be change-able from boardtracker to traditional, couple of pic's I found.
 
Pile of parts from my stash a bike scraps. can you see a boardtracker in there?
 
Drew up some plans, size determined by forks and the rear triangle and of course 26'rims.
Have a roller, bit more welding to do then bondo, primer and get her ridable.
 
Here are the boardtracker drop bars, have to be cut down yet.
The joining tubes I always thought would be a problem, had to get these as close as possible
as the drop bars are what makes a boardtracker. Sort of stumbled across a simple solution
which has worked really well, cut and welded four handle bar stems.

Now here she is with the straight bars.
Will have fenders as with the straight bars.
 
Twist number two, twist throttle with a front hub electric brushless motor, so good so far can
get around 35Kph only fitted yesterday so haven't really given her a good run.
Plan is to hide the battery behind a fake tank.
So was going to use some plumbing pipe for the fake tank, too much curve,
so went down another track, more complex, more work but turned out okay.
Cut the fuel filler and pressure pump from an old primus kerosene stove, yep
bit of a sin to cut the old gem up but I have another mint one, a greater cause!
 
This thing was a bit more complex than first meets the eye, wanted it to look
authentic but had to get around the battery and still be able to charge it. Made
the whole thing so it can be removed four screws takes each side off.
I live pretty isolated so have to make stuff with what's at hand 2mm ply glued, screwed
and clamped around the curve of the internal frame, then fill sand paint.
 
 
Didn't polish up the brass too much wanted to retain the patina look.
The top straps are for clamping pipe under a house perfect size for the job.
 
How she sits today, still planning more for this one. Took most of a rainy day to make
these two Head badges, dremel, then file, then buff.
May just be able to see I scribed in Hendee MFG an Springfeild Mass to and bottom.
 
Also added a tail light from an old reflector I had and some plumbing pipe
 
Getting all arty on the computer.
That's the ten year old Boarder Collie "Fly" looking happy to have her picture taken.
Getting close but still a bit more to do, will convert her over to a boardtracker soon
and see how she looks.

Outstanding!
I love bikes too, but those old Indians really had timeless lines to them.
Please keep the pics coming.

Wow nice work . Really good project.
I imagine your location doesn't make it any easier for such a project?
I am in Port Macquarie if you need any help re parts and or drop off for the island trader let me know.
Hell I might even hand deliver some time as I really want to surf the place.

Thanks folks, as the title first suggested she's a boardtracker first and foremost. So wanted a more
authentic looking boardtracker seat, cut from a skateboard deck.
 
 
 
Thought I'd get a few pic's of my Indians together, the lowest, the slowest and the boardtracker!
Apart from the tyres and a few odds and ends pretty much scratch built from bikes scrounged
from the local tip. (Waste Management Facility)
