the adventures of suppy
i picked up the sup mobile off andy with the green fasty (rip) to be my new daily driver, it came none running with loose heads.
got that sorted as soon as it arrived on the flat bed.
its a 1972 auto honey brown. all original and owned by an old bloke for the best part of its life, its got a few dings and hits but dry as with
absolutely no rust.
the day it arrived
it had already been lowered two splines in the front and one in the back, a good easy height but not enough for me!
once i sorted out the engine, which to this day is still pretty shitty and i am on the eye out for a cheap donor engine, i started doing a few little
things
made this speaker box as it has a AM radio that i wanted to keep, this just plugs onto my battery and sits on the back seat, its plenty loud.
i then got new rubber for the front, went with the smart car tyres again 145/65
this made it really look kinda funny being so high
at the nats i picked up a set of mesh wheels for $30, they are 4x100 and i would love to get some adapters and run them. they are stupid small
but thats a while away if/when i wanna do that, so for now ive plastidipped the stockies schwarz and put a madd dogg dragg racingg stripe on the rear
wheels because of how stupidly fast it is!
and ive lowered the front down to 4 splines and will be doing the back this coming weekend in time for valla, the dream is to swap out the front with
a narrowed type 1 beam.
wtf is this IRS shit?
and a sneaky photo of the "DKR475"
#fattiesarethenewsplitties
Im so happy I could just shit.

been a slow day at work so I might as well update this,
SUP 2.0
the SUP has got a enw engine, which sounds amazing! it is a actual auto engine unlike the other one, and has a set of extractors and a Hendrick kustom
hot dog exhaust. has a heap more power and runs like a champo
also if that last photo didn't indicate it, I am lifting this thing sky high. it is now becoming the #adventuremobile
its not sitting how I want it at the moment, its all uneven and looks stupid. I had a lot of trouble getting the double plate IRS shit where I wanted
it so ive left it until a tool arrives to help me. I ordered a spring plate loader from Mid America Motorworks, looks like it will do the job.
it should be able to get hopefully about another inch higher in the back and ill be happy.
tyres that im running are 215/75r15 all terrains on the front and muddies on the back. 15x6 and 15x7 with type 3 offsets
these photos are with the old engine, I no longer has my home made boso pipe
and once this is all done I will (finally) get NSW rego
Im so happy I could just shit.

i stripped the muddies off my 15x7 steelies, and test fitted them.
I kinda like the look but also unsure about it, it seems to be the "in thing" at the moment.
they clear everything and fit really well, they were made to suit a type 3.
went around to jbombs yesterday to help extract some hambone, ended up drilling it out and running a tap through it. it was a piece of mince.
Im so happy I could just shit.

ive been keeping the whole thing under wraps kinda, but heres a recap of the ham beam extraction and 5" link pin insertion.
firstly thanks to all the dudebros who came round and gave me and hand at drinking my beer :flower:
so took the type 3 beam out which didnt take too much effort apart from one bottom bolt being so jammed up from hitting the ground that i had to cut
it out
i ordered a 5" king and link pin beam from ross at skinned knuckles and ended up getting 3" dual drop plates from atomwerks.
havent put the plates in yet as i was way too ham about beamin
man a 5" beam with shock towers in a type 3 sure is a tight f#*king fit! i had to do some remedial massaging on the guards, and will have to do some
more so i can get some more turning. im not running shocks at the moment but i am planning to down the track. might need to do something about the
bottom trailing arm though, like a clamp on bottom mount for shock?
put all new bolts in, new tie rod ends cleaned the steering box and new steering bushing
JB likes this
and then i bled the brakes cause i had to replace the front calipers to suit the beetle spindles, so ive still got disc's and running #4lug.
i had to relocate my fuel filler to inside the bonnet, just got a local exhaust shop to cut and weld the original one. works well.
took it down the driveway just to see how everything felt, i need to do a full srs wheel alignment. i did a quick one just to see if everything was
all good but its toeing out pretty awesomely.
need to re bleed the brakes as there must of been an luft lock between the front and rear, and tank raise and more massaging.
oh and it needs a serious wash, i cant believe how shiny it looked in that first photo.
last photo shows how much more clarence you get from a type 1 conversion
Im so happy I could just shit.
