Anyone Have a Guard for a Little Old Lady?

Hey everyone. Just wondering if anyone has a spare 1500 bug rear right hand guard that they would be willing to part with for the right price?

The story goes like this. There is a little old lady named Lorraine that lives in Yeppoon at a retirement home just up the road from me. She is 76 and loves nothing more than driving about in her little red 1500. Her partner has tried to get her to sell it many times but everytime he does she just gets sad and refuses to part with it. She said if it was the last car she owned should couldn't be happier.
She ended up in contact with me about 6 months ago and I have been doing some work for her on the car. Just maintenance and tuning, (you should have seen the state of the timing and carby settings!!) She couldn't be happier with how it has been running the last few months and drives it everywhere, rain or shine.

Now a few weeks ago I received a call from her with some horrible news. Someone had ran into her car while it was parked at the shopping centre and has left a massive dent and crease in the rear right guard. No note or contact information was left of course, which really disheartens my faith in today's society.

I am presently visiting friends in Canberra, but will be starting my road trip home on Monday travelling back up the east coast. I thought this would be the perfect chance to try and pick up a guard for her on the way home.

So if you are somewhere between Canberra and Yeppoon and have a spare RHS 1500 Beetle rear guard (preferrably bright red, but not necessary) that is solid and straight. And you are willing to part with it to help out a lovely old lady who loves her bug more than anything please get in contact with me. Hopefully the good of the VW community can galvanise together to undo this low act.

Either PM me, post on here or email smileyman3000@gmail.com

Sorry for the long post, I get rambling sometimes.

Are you driving up the coast or inland? I have one at Nabiac (near Taree) that you can have if you are coming this way.

You could try Nick…

Might be your best chance of finding a red one if you're not going through Nabiac.. (^^^^ see previous post.)

Just outside of canberra…

Call the mobile.

Ask for a price before you go.
