each to their own though

They have some staff with attitude problems. Keep calling until you get the right person.

I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

If you're having problems with Shannons [about the best around for 'old' cars], you may find you would have even more trouble with some of the others.

You are fairly limited with classic car insurance for options. I have a car with Shannons and a car with LSV. I have been through the claims process with both of them.

I also work at a classic car restoration factory, and we do get vehicles in for repair from time to time, and we never have any problems with Shannons or LSV. It all depends on which policy suits you best. Read the policy properly, don't wait for a claim to find out you are not covered for something.

keep us posted with how you go. I was with shannons for many years but recently changed to nrma classic. never claimed so can't comment on how they perform. They are ALL friendly when taking your money.

I used to be with NRMA (was for many years), and when I went to make a claim, I went through 3 months of hell to get it sorted.

I then went with Shannons, and have had 4 claims, and each time they have been great to deal with.

They are all good at taking your money, but the biggest difference is how they treat you when you make a claim.

Guys quick question is the repairs with Shannons lifetime warranty?

Because where i had a repair on my beetle it is starting to rust.

Repair was done 2 years ago.

What would cause this?

Shannons have lifetime warranty on the repair. Call them and they will help. They may direct you to get a panel shop to take pictures to email to them, so they can compare to the original repair quote, and then they will send an assessor to look at it.

Cars are made of iron, and they rust, so it is important for all concerned to ascertain what has happened. If it is a seam that was not sealed before painting, or if it is long term rust that has finally broken through. Cars rust from the inside out.

I've got 6 cars with Shannons, as the policies increase the overall cost has reduced. 3 of these are under laid up cover. Claims I've had have always been sorted quickly and easily including choice of repairer.
I would definately recommend working out agreed value with them when taking out the policy, sometimes that even works out cheeper even though the agreed insured value may be higher.

I understand that Lumleys have a policy that you can put more than one car on, and only ONE is insured for on the road at any time, unless you ring them beforehand and submit a special day (like a show day) when you will have another nominated driver driving the car for you.
