Finishing off Painting
Hi All,
I am giving body work a go by repainting the petrol tank of my 56 beetle. A previous owner has pained over the rust that was there so i thought I
would try to fix it.
So far I have stripped all the paint of the top half, coated it with canned etch primer, filled in all the dints (my tank i'm sure is several liters
smaller) with body filler, sanded it back and re coated with etch primer.
Now I've got a much better tank but it still has imperfections where I've missed a small dint or the filler was not as even as I thought or where
the metal has rust pitting.
What is the next step to try to get a smooth finish?
So far I've learnt that body work is a dirty, time consuming job that can be left to others.
