I was just offered $7k trade in for a 2008 TDi New beetle with 50,000 kms
Rego was due and needed a service and a few things
I would have been happy with $9-10k trade in or about $12k selling
What you have describe would be $5k ish in my opinion

Hi , she's bought one for 3500 , needs a couple of cosmetic items done to the interior but seems like a reasonably good car for a first car

I bought my daughter a 2000 beetle 6 months ago for $2k but had to replace front bumper guards and bonnet $700 was lucky enough to get same colour
panels, then rego, but it has had the motor redone and only done 12 and 1/2 k's, great little car, from what I have read electrics are their main
problem

And I had to redo the hood lining as the glue lets go with the heat, did that myself with leather look vinyl, pretty easy as you can take out the
formed ceiling panel and do it on the floor

It's had timing belt done and wheel speed sensors , it has a cracked handle on door trim and some stone chips on bonnet but very tidy apart from that

Timing belt done that's good, think there due every 90,000Ks
give it a service oil and filter etc check the brakes , tyre pressure, spare tyre etc, check that it has a jack etc and all light are working, join
NRMA road side assist .
then change oil about every 5 to 7000K as lots of Ks on motor.

Our 2 litre 2003 cabrio gets the timing belt every 105k. Not sure if it is different to the earlier ones though. We have over 240k on ours and it is
still going great and I can't believe how cheap that one was. I am sure she will love it.

They are both really good value. They certainly weren't good investments for original owners. I have an 02 1.8 turbo NB that's done a bit over 40K
and I would be lucky to get 10 grand for it. It has a sunroof and auto Trans and from memory it was a touch over 50k when I bought it new.I put new
17x7 VW mags on it at the first service.Didnt like the daggy 16"s that it came with.It has no marks or chips anywhere. I would never part with it
anyway. Had the timing belts and idler pullies done last year. The Dealership said that they do them at 10 years if the K"s aren't up. They found
the water pump was weeping and a temp sensor in the radiator bought up a fault code- so it was a $1600 repair. It's the only money I have spent on it
other than a yearly service.

Yer the door handle is cracked on my daughters as well, one of the other problems with them is the plastics inside, they get brittle, not much uv
protection from the Australian sun in there
I bought 2 spare doors and 1 of the handles is cracked on them, couldn't pass the doors up for $100 each, electric window winders are worth more then
that
Must be something about Bris North and cheap beetles, post up a photo
Cheers, Mike
