esevwbits - Next time you talk to George you might suggest he has lost a lot of business.
Judging by the several threads on here pertaining to his business I'd guess he's lost 20 plus customers in the last 6 months. I for one have thrown several thousand to other suppliers. if I'd lost that much business I'd be taking a look at my customer service.
Maybe there is so much VW work in Sydney that he doesn't need customers.
Outside the 3 big cities the number of parts suppliers is SFA.
Hell If that's the case maybe I'll start a parts supply business for non Sydney Dub owners!

As long as he has one or two customers that is enough, remember the extortionate prices everyone else was charging before he opened? The fact that those businesses still survive after dropping their prices by 50% or more shows how much those businesses were reaming you.

Still waiting...

For my indicator switch and door mirror.

Anyone who is there, can you ask him nicely to post my stuff?

Interestingly have you seen "German-autoxtras" on Ebay?

It is the man himself with over 1000 posotive feedbacks for fast delivery good value etc!

Unfortunately he dosn't list all of his stock on Ebay.

Has anyone been over to Classic vee dub lately? I made an order in early December but have not received anything yet. I must have called a hundred times buy now and no answer :?: I was hoping to get the parts and do some work while I am on holidays but looks like that is not going to happen. I even wrote a letter and sent it requesting the order be posted. Is the store still open? I might have to drive down there to get the parts.

Ive been desperately waiting on parts for months- always 'two weeks away'. Im a pretty good customer- spent about 10 grand with classic vee dub in 4 years.
No-ones been there since Christmas, I've been there a few times. Called plenty, called and texted his mobile. No answer.
Over it.
By the same token I'm not going to put up with the wildly overpriced , self righteous local alternatives. I really don't need the lecture on why every other vendor sucks, the interrogation on where I sourced the other parts or the free attitude.

I've spent $8k on karmann bits from the US in the last fortnight.
Easy to place the order, knew what they were talking about, almost everything in stock, turned up when they said, they informed me of the exact delivery time for the items they were short- and they've been delivered as described.

I'd love to source the other 2 to 3 K of bits locally, but life, and my temper are both too short.

Can't help thinking that if he's not alive then the funeral would be something like this - Order the casket, it arrives (if at all!) 6 months down the line, then you'd find it's the wrong size and not the colour you ordered originally. The plot at the cemetery is already occupied but you'd already paid for it and can't get your money back and when you've got the casket and the plot all eventually sorted out you find out he's not dead , just not been answering his phone or emails and it's someone elses body just delivered to the wrong address!!

To be honest as these posts are started about every 3 months, if you order from him you should know its at your risk.

I personally also have never had a problem with George - items have always arrived very quickly and as for quality you get what you pay for. He has the good stuff and the crap (same as every other reseller).

He is fully aware of what most people think of his business style (or lack there of), I've told him - he simply could'nt give a rats what people think.

I always drop into his shop when in Sydney and buy whatever I need that's instock - he has a great range of stock. His phone is always ringing no-stop - he could'nt care less about losing a few customers. It's worth taking a trailer and going to the shop personally and loading up, he's always there (except holidays) and he's always open to doing you a good deal. I know price isn't everything, but when you're buying a shit load, it helps.

The advice above is good - if you definitely need it in a hurry - don't order it online from George.

Whinging here is not going to change the way he does business - so use him to your best advantage.:)

Been getting all my parts elsewhere without having to drive 1000km each way. Delivered to my door. All a phone call or an email away.
Customer service is 100% of business. Supply a good product with efficient friendly service, no hassles. The business rolls in and customers don't bag you out on a website.
One of my suppliers doesn't even have an email address. And he supplies what I need with a phone call and prompt delivery. Gotta love that!

I can explain why George still has a thriving VW supply business. I needed all new parts for a chassis front to back.Got three quotes ,one replied next day $5440.a week later another $4800 but didn,t have all parts I finally got through to George he replied with quote next day $2400.For the cost difference the Mrs.and I caught the boat from Tassie drove up to Sydney went to see George at the shop checked the quality of the parts (same). We will spend a few days with our family and drive back and be still be ahead financially. This is no disrespect to the other suppliers as I know they are all good blokes but.$$$$ still talks.Yes George still does not answer the phone while he is serving a customer at the shop, because he is just one person, and I do think most customers appreciate someones uninterrupted service.

Next time I want a $10 part I'll drive up from Hobart????

I purchased a rear apron off George, after explaining carefully that I wanted a late model one with bump, I received the wrong one. Emailed him and told him that it was incorrect and that the freight charge from Hobart was such that I might as well keep it and try and sell it here and I would get another one. He then went on to say that the later one's were unattainable, got one from JustKamper the following week.
