Lovely oval!

Great decisions so far, keeping it simple is the best path.

It is nice to see that the Beetle will remain 'unmolested' :tu:

Are the wheels OK? If so, why not clean them up, and fit a set of good 1.55x15 tyres, and original hub-caps. I lashed out on a set of Pirelli Cinturatos for my '54, and I'm not sorry!

I noticed you have a couple of hub-caps...if you need some more, I have a couple you can have.

Cheers, Greg

Thanks for all the words of encouragement, guys!

@HappyDaze - Wheels are good. I used to use the 155 Michelin XZX tyres, but can't seem to find that size any more. I'll definitely look into the Pirellis. Do you have an idea of what they cost? Tyres are one of those things that I don't believe in saving money on (although I do wince a little when I replace the Pilot Sport 2s on my daily driver...). I'm always amazed to see how many people are using those Nankang rubbers... shudder...

Thanks for the offer on the hubcaps - I've got a full set in the car, and a backup set in the garage.

Cheers

Even with freight and gst, etc, it was about $500 cheaper than local supplier [Stuckeys] for 4 Cinturato 155HR15 Pirelli Cinturato CA67 tyres here :-

I agree with your thinking on tyres. All there is between you and the road are 4 little patches of rubber!

Michelin X in that size are not available, by the way.
