What's with my fenders

Hi all,

I'm in the process of stripping my Beetle and have realised the indicator positions on my 2 front fenders are completely different. Does anyone know if these are off 2 different models or were the holes done badly by the previous owner??

Any help is always appreciated :)

Almost correct Steve. Except for our north american cousins who do call them 'fenders'. The british called them 'wings' or 'mudguards'.

LMAO I was going to call them guards but with the research I had done so far everyone was calling them fenders. I must have been on US sites.

So one is a 64, is that correct? I was actually considering shaving the indicators on both anyway. Is the rest of the "guard" the same shape etc?

Some people call them quarters, usually a term on the rear.

I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

Here's the famous Brazilian group "Os Paralamas do Sucesso" (The Mudguards of Success). As can be seen, they don't match exactly.
