Injected fuel pump noise
Just wondering if it's normal for the fuel pump in an injected type one to be very audible in the cab, I may be paranoid but I'm sure it wasn't
like this when I bought the car, is there any way to silence it ? When I first noticed it I thought it was an alternator bearing but now it seems it
could be the pump, bigger of a thing to track the sound. 😕

noise can be a sign of wear, make sure its not touching the body or chassis or that the mounts aren't flogged out

When mine was fuel injected it was very hard to hear the pump as the pump only started when the starter motor was going. With the engine running it
was impossible to hear at all. Its replacement now it's carb is very audible. Both Bosch pumps, both the same style.

You should also be able to feel if it's not running smoothly. A good motor will feel like a gentle tingle at most but if you can feel vibration then
it needs replacing.

Ok, got under the bug toda and could feel quite a vibration through the hose off the pump so I reckon a new pump is in order before it fails, from
what I can see that means removing the fuel tank to access the pump. Any hints would be appreciated.

Buy a hose clamp or clamps from Repco, Supercheap etc so that once you've undone the tank bolts you can lift the front edge and get to the pipes to
clamp them so once the hose retainer clips are released you spill very little fuel everywhere.
Then, hopefully, the tank ain't too full and you can drain it into a petrol can just in case you knocked the tank over whilst there's fuel in it
Oh, and get the right ID and pressure rated hose for the pump outlet or you'll risk leaks and ruptures.

So you can't re-use the hoses ? What about the two canisters I can see from under the car ? Are they filters and if so should I replace them ? Is
there a kit available with what I need ? Best place to get them in Oz?
