Warwick VW body final

here is a link to the VW body final.

Well done to Barry in the mighty kombi. Not sure how it happened and certainly didn't get a convincing explanation from the officials but I got a red light. I've got a number of videos from inside the car and not really sure why I got a red light but there you go......

If anyone has video from outside the car that shows the final I would be happy to get a copy just to satisfy myself if nothing more...

Apart from that another great weekend sitting in the drivers seat.

this video is not very good quality but the light sequence was first stage light, second stage light and then almost straight away red. The reason given to me was that I must have rolled backwards??

Anyway, whats done is done. I'm just glad that Barry was the winner as he goes every year and has a go in what most people would agree is the furthest thing from a race car so good on you Baz, I enjoy our little niggles and it is still your shout if you are reading this!!

From my perspective I was a bit cracky about the result as I had it taken away last year over a protest regarding dial in times by the other driver and the year before that I red lighted against Steve Carter, but that was me just being too aggressive as I knew I had to go pretty hard to beat Steve. This year I just felt a bit cheated after winning all qualifying runs and being my fifth consecutive final. (I realise Scott and Aaron were not trying too hard!!) Anyway the car performed pretty well and it is in the trailer waiting to compete at the Noosa Hill Climb in November. I'll probably take it out and give it a check before the hill climb but then again we might just rock up and run it straight out of the trailer....

I have some go-pro footage which I'll load up once I sort out the go-pro cable.

How do you know how you went on Sunday ? I never got a single timeslip on Sunday .
Also the left lane had issues sunday , I couldnt get any traction off the mark , its like there was oil on the track . Right lane was fine .

yep, there were having some issues for sure. If you went to the officials shed they would give you a hand written slip with your RT and ET once you gave them your car number. At the end of the day you could ask for a printout of your times, which I did get but can't find it. maybe it went in the bin - which is very unlike me as I am annul about things like that. In fact have every time slip since my first run there in 2011.....

out of interest here are my best times over the past 5 years
2011 9.944 @ 64.2mph
2012 9.836 @ 66.6mph
2013 8.995 @ 81.40mph
2014 8.544 @ 84.96mph
2015 8.464 @ 88.67mph

2013 was the first time I ran at Warwick with both turbos working hence the big improvement in mph

So 2015 was a PB for me and the car is getting better every year...

Lou.if you pre staged then staged and then it went red and the prestage lights were on then you were robbed again. You can be staged and when the lites come down and your car moves yet doesnt move out of the pre stage beams you don't go red.

shameless plug time!

Big thanks to Boris and Henry for the gearbox. Henry built it for me back in 2009 and it has never been out of the car since. It's done 5 Warwick's, 100's of laps at Lakeside and QR, Wakefield and a few hill climbs and street sprints and it just keeps on going. oh yes, did I mention it is a type 1 box and handling 280hp at the wheels!:crazy::crazy:
