Is this normal?

Today while driving along in the beetle with the roof down on a beautiful Queensland day I turned on the sound system to listen to the ipod, after about a minute I realised that I actually prefer to hear the engine! My choice in music is obviously 'my choice' so there's nothing wrong in that department, it's just I find it reassuring, even relaxing to hear that little beat going on at the back. So is this normal or am I weird? Please be gentle with me :dork:

When I was 16 I went away for the weekend with some friends in a 67 1300 deluxe Beetle, I fell in love with the Beetles sound then.

Yep, that's why even in freezing cold whether you rug up, and put the windows down just so you can hear more of the engine :)

Worse is you get to know it so well that the minutest disparity in how it normally sounds brings out a cold sweat and makes you think about pulling over to find out why, then you realise you're in a road cutting!
