67 notch disk brake conversion
Hi haven't been on here for a while.
Got a few questions.
I am doing a disc brake conversion on my 67 notch. I have two disc brake beams. They have different backing plates, one is smaller than the other.
Which would be best to use?
I have wide five wheels that I want to keep, so am planning on putting wide five discs on whichever beam I use. So far have only found
volksconversions advertising type 3 specific kits. Car is quite low so can't afford any offset issues using beetle discs. Is there anyone else I
should talk too?
Smaller backing plate on left
Smaller backing plate
Larger backing plate
Thanks in advance

The one with the wider backing plate is the '72(?) on spindle which has wider bolt spacing to mount the caliper and larger brake pads. If you are
going for a wide five brake conversion you may be better to start with drum brake spindles.

Ok cool got the original drum beam out of the car. Had a look at the control arms of the disk brake beam I pulled apart and it is severely worn where
one of the inner bearings is, and as I understand they are impossible to get new bearings. So might just pull all three apart anduse the best parts
from them with the drum spindles.
thanks for the reply mate.
