[FS - NSW] GENUINE 1961 BEETLE KARMANN CABRIOLET
do not contact me, this on behalf of the below person.
We have owned this GENUINE 1961 BEETLE KARMANN CABRIOLET since 1999 and took it off the road about 6 years ago to restore because there was some rust
coming thru the rear body, where the roof was attached but we decided to do a full restoration at that time. The body, guards, doors etc were all
removed and soda blasted and repainted in the Purple colour which is a VW colour, used only once for a show car.
This car is an original Right Hand Drive .....this car is a RARITY as it was built RH Drive!
The 1600 engine was removed and serviced by a Coffs VW Specialist and modified for unleaded fuel. The only rust in the car was around the battery
tray, so a new panel was fitted and floor pan painted with POR15. New body/floor seal, body attached with stainless steel bolts. Clutch plate,
pressure plate, throw out bearing, engine mounts, carburettor, brake shoes, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake lines, shock absorbers, clutch
cable, accelerator cable, heater cables, handbrake cables, wheel bearings have all been replaced. All window frames and pedals have been re chromed.
All window, door and roof rubbers are ready to be fitted. New Boot and Bonnet lid rubbers have been fitted. Roof frame was soda blasted and painted
the same colour as the car and new wooden front roof bow sourced along with outer and inner roof. New rear window seal, new windscreen and rubber
fitted by O’briens. Steering wheel and indicator switch re painted by VW specialist in Victoria. Seat frames sand blasted and primed. All original
upholstery, door and rear side panels are all there and in pretty good condition , but we intended to have new ones made. There are new door, boot,
bonnet handles. New indicators, tail lights and headlights are the vertical type with parkers in bottom of chrome surround. New wiring loom
fitted.
All parts were sourced from Mick Motors, Chucks Convertible Supplies, West Coast Metric and ebay. We even managed to pick up a rain tray for the
engine cover! As much as I’d love to finish this great car for my wife, I’m not getting any younger and have a “ to do” list a mile long! It
just needs finishing! $28,000.00 o.n.o.
