VW needing engine work

Hi guys

I have been very fortunate in receiving my Grandmothers 1967 VW beetle (only owner) original motor with only 48 thousand K's on the clock.

Currently not running

The carbi probably needs work Ive been told. Can anyone please recommend a decent reasonable priced mobile mechanic?

I do really want to get this car on the road and not looking to sell as I want to keep it in the family.

Any comments would be appreciated.

(Based in northern suburbs Melbourne)

Thanks

Justin

G'day and welcome

great car you have and worth hanging onto - original earlies are getting rare

Can you tell us a bit more? Is it registered? Can it drive? Are you mechanical at all?

Mobile mechanics are a bit thin on the ground - especially air cooled VW ones

You are better off
1 doing the work yourself
2 joining a VW club and getting / conning some one to come and have a look
3 taking it to a propper VW air cooled mechanic

Give Volkshome a call to discuss your options.

Thanks for the comments,

The vehicle is currently registered
Its not running at the moment
I'm not really mechanical to be honest
I'm a member of the VW club but haven't as yet got a reply to my emails

Cheers

Get RACV membership - highest level is always the best option as a classic you have a bigger towing allowance so you can get it towed where you want... - volkshome (thomastown) or volkscare (Boronia) would be my choices. You may need to spend a bit initially but in the long term they aren't too expensive to maintain if you make sure you do keep up with regular servicing :)
