Hey
I have a 12a mild port in my Beach Buggy road car. Radiator is mounted under the front bonnet. Used an EL falcon aluminium rad with twin thermos.
Oil cooler is mounted up front off the front bumper.
Air is ducted into the bonnet using a STI bonnet scoop and hot air exit underneath the car.
If I was doing a conversion on a beetle I would mount the radiator in the spare wheel well and duct air from underneath the front apron to pressurise
one side of the radiator to force air through and mount a thermo fan to keep thing cool when in traffic. Unfortunately there is no way around
removing some sheet metal and you will need to seal up the front of the radiator against the bonnet when it is closed. Mount oil cooler upfront. Run
water pipes down each side of the chassis and run a additional single pipe to house and run hydrolic hoses to the front for the oil cooler.
Cheers Rel

You can basically use the same techniques that are used on any conversion, Subaru etc. Steer away from rear mounted radiators
