What spark plugs

So what plugs are you all using in you modified VWs ?

Been reading conflicting reports re modern (iridium etc) plugs not working as well in our motors.

Doesn't really make sense.

Cheers

Denso Iridium for me. Get your heat range correct, get the compatible thread/seat/diameter/length, then screw it in and ignore the things for years on end.
Done.

Cheers,

1641 single port heads (stock), dual ICTs engle 110, lifters hd springs/retainers
extractors, pertronix flame thrower, SVDA dissy, and 1mm spacers between head and barrels (dunno compression!)

Yup seems silly having fancy ignition system and using antique plug technology!

What heat range do I need?
Cheers

Heat range NGK 6 or Denso 20 should do nicely.

Weird that you've got 1mm barrel spacers for std 1600 heads but sounds like a low compression motor so will need a cool plug rating as ModnRod said.

The heads are 1300 SP, my old mate Al from Stokers VW said to put the spacers in when I went to 1641 or it would run on.

So I will get some posh plugs, heat 6 or 20 of the correct length and width.

Cheers
Dave
