[WTB - VIC] Baja Project Car

Hi gang,

Kurt beat me to the punch with his WTB post, so I waited until he found himself a car first.

Same scenario.... I'm after a baja to take on as a project with the kids.

I've been scanning Gumtree/eBay for ages, but very few show up in Vic. I've spotted a few interstate, but found it hard to get sellers to communicate enough photos/info for us to decide if it was the project for us.

I'm very flexible and open to pretty much anything, but the ideal scenario is a mostly complete car with some paperwork/history (to help with later registration).

Happy to take on an interstate car if you're willing to get me plenty of photos, willing have a good chat and we can sort out transport.

Cheers,
AJ

what about a 1500 beetle to cut up into a baja yourself ...?

got a 70s orange beetle - pretty much a complete car couple rust issues but youre chopping some of that off anyway...

cheers, Ben

Hi Ben,
Thanks for the idea, but I think I'll hold out a bit longer for a built baja.
Decent brand name kits (i.e. Cheetah) are hard to find (again, especially here in Vic) and I'm hoping to get a budget head start with at least some of the bar work, wheels, suspension, etc already present.
Cheers,
AJ

Ben,
All the best with your search, eventually one will show up.
Have you seen this one in Sydney? https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/kellyville/cars-vans-utes/1974-vw-beetle-baja...
Cheers
Kurt

Hi Kurt,
Yep, have seen that one.
Looks like a decent car, but pushing the budget limit a bit for what's on it (or missing).

MR930,
Will PM you for some details.

Thanks guys.

Well, I wasn't comfy hijacking or even posting a separate WTB when someone else was asking for a baja project, but thats me. I waited (see my first post)

I'm still waiting to hear back from him, but you've posted so...

Hi Aaron,
did you end up buying a Baja Project?
I am in Brisbane and have a Baja Project to sell. It's a 1960's Convertible Baja with a good 1600 single port motor, wide wheels, full fibreglass kit, bars, seats etc. Has rust in sill, floor, pillar and door. Can provide replacement sill, pillar and door. It is a project.
Send me a message if any interest to you.
Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark,

Apologies, have not logged in for a bit.

No, still have not found the right project car.

I tried to PM MR93, after he posted here, but never heard back.

I have also seen yours. Looks like the kind of project I'm after, but not sure the costs of getting it down to Melb and I'm not super keen on a convertible. I'll touch base for a chat about it anyway.
