Friend of mine in the mid 70's used his fast back to drive Toowoomba to Caloundra 3-4 days a week (400km round trip). Back then it was quicker to go
back roads, many dirt roads. Said he did the trip faster in the type 3 than any other vehicle. Did it without problems for years, and always felt
safe.
Was a stock car, and with the suspension and little heavier body was more comfortable than a beetle.

There was a Baja Fasty in Taree about 25yrs ago always thought it was cool.

Took a look through your photos of the build, awesome job. You should do a build thread using them.

Thanks wombat.
Very happy with how it turned out. I had a build thread on here at one point. I think it was like 4 or 5 years ago now. She is in need of a freshen up
at some point and I have a few extras I want to add. So might start a new thread when the time comes.

Always liked the idea of a Baja Type 3. Thought, cut up a Square to make a ute then a full Baja suspension kit.
Your 69 looks good schnike007.
Bec and I are a bit proud, a nice photo of our Notch in VWMA!

Spotted a light blue late fast back on the back of a tilt tray heading south on the gateway rd Bris today.
Also see from time to time a pale green late fast back near the Catholic Uni in Nudgee.
Anyone here?

Thought I'd jump onboard; Searched high and low for a 69 square through my teens and sourced this about 8 years ago now. Been saving ever since to do
a full restoration.
Looking forward to giving it some TLC.

I had a thought a few years back about a Type3 wagon with all my Country Buggy front and rear suspension.Shouldn't be too hard to weld a Beetle frame
head in.I reckon leave the body alone-which gives you plenty of room for camping gear, fridge etc.

In the book Baja Prepping from the 70's it shows a few type 3 wagons baja-ified.
Nobody can drive you crazy, unless you give them the keys.

Okay, meant to post this here rather than start a new thread but ended up doing both!
My daughter's '73 fastback. We are the second owners and picked it up about 2.5 years ago with 130k miles on the clock and all books and service
records.

After getting the Fastback pretty well sorted I started getting 'Oh Dad I'd really like a Squareback to go camping in...'
Picked this '70/'71 up from a good fella in Adelaide and sorting through some teething issues atm.
Got some nice patina, rust above the tailgate and the interior needs a general tidy up
