Removal of beetle rear body mounts???

G'day guys I'm trying to put a 61 bug body on a 69 pan for irs, I need to move the rear body mounts but don't know exactly how. How many spot welds are in the body mounts and where abouts are they located. Pictures would be much appreciated!!!

Clean the painted area of the mounting and you will be able to see the indents where the spot welds were made, they will be sunken and have paint in them.

buy a special spot weld drill bit otherwise you will end up with a Swiss cheese, a little bit of heat on the surface will also make the spot welds standout

its easier to cut a bit of the bottom of the mount and weld in a new plate saves drilling it right off the bodywork

But you have to know how much to cut from memory its around 25 mm or so

You could ask VVDS to measure one for you as they have a customers car with a 61 body on an IRS chassis

There is a rundown on one way to do this in the Tech Mods forum on this site
