Father's Day
I took a run up to Tarnagulla (near Bendigo) this weekend to see my Dad for Father's Day. He moved up there from Walhalla just before Nambucca,
so this was the first opportunity that I've had to go and see him.
He's bought a quaint little place in the main st which was once the bucher's shop, but is now converted to a house.
The run also gave me the opportunity to adjust and test-run my carbies which I rebuilt when I got back from Nambucca. :thumb
Now, if only I could find the time for some panel-beating and paint!!

I also went to visit one of my mates from Uni, who is currently living and working in Shepparton. It was a reasonable drive - 911 kms, which brings my
running in total to almost 7000 kms I think (I'd have to check the log book).
:o <- My eyes when I got back tonight!!

Hey Kol
Jay said you and Heather had dropped in to her place. I thought you must have been celebrating here in Melb. with family for fathers day.
It is a cute place they have in Bendigo. Is your dad going to do something with the shop? A big difference between Bendigo and Walhalla
Typical you with the milage chalked up:P
I mean, back to sunny Gippsland via Shep from Bendigo:P
How come you didn't head across the mountain range?? |

No Jen, not Melbourne. I went to Tarnagulla, which is the point on the map to the left of Bendigo. I left around 10.30am Saturday and stopped off at
OvalMat's place to drop off the oxy-welder he bought from me, then stopped in Woodend to look at a car I found in the Trading Post, before
continuing on up to Tarnagulla, arriving at Dad's about 4.30-5pm.
I'd not really had the chance to find a Father's Day gift, but fortunately the Tarnagulla Hotel is directly across the road from Dad's
place, so I bought a 6-pack and we sat on the front verandah after dinner and had a couple of beers each while watching the traffic go by - one
car!!!
The next day we left Tarnagulla around 11am and drove to Shepparton to see my mate Phil. He's been up there for quite a while, but other than
work (teaching) and football, he's a bit lonely and bored. Again, he's right next door to the pub, so I bought a 6-pack and we sat in his
backyard in the sun and had a couple of stubbies each. Unfortunately, I didn't get home until around 10.30pm, because I was enjoying Phil's
backyard too much (and :beer), and also because I stopped to tow somebody out of a ditch they'd got stuck in on the side of the road about 10
mins before home (Had to go home and get the rope first).
Jen, the shop has been converted to a house. The old butcher's shop-front (the RH section with the large wooden windows) is now a very nice
formal lounge. The house was a lot bigger inside than I expected, with a nice rustic feel to it, but brightly painted to give it a more open feel.
You'd love it I think.
I did drop into Jay's briefly to measure her carport up for a rolladoor and bounce some ideas around about how to turn it into a nice cosy home
for Wolf. :thumb
I checked the log book - 6700 kms since the rebuild. I did a bit of tuning along the way, and he's running fairly sweet now. I've still got
to pull the motor to tidy up some oil leaks and change the clutch plate, and a new accelerator jet should fix the niggling flat spot that still
remains. :beer
Steve, it was a big drive, but over two days its not too bad. In fact, I love it!!! There's not many things I'd rather be doing than seeing
the countryside from the driver's seat of my kombi! :thumb

Kol it sounds an excellent weekend.
Sounds like the 6 pack was appreciated :thumb
Liked your dad's place in Walhalla, they've got good taste, so would imagine I'd like this one too. Hope they are enjoying the
change
OK so how did you get home to get the rope? Thumbed a lift from a neighbour. Well 10 minutes maybe walked. What happened? So lucky it was only the 10
min's:thumb |

Jen, I wasn't stuck, the other guy was. I took pity on him because he had his wife, baby and most of all, his mother-in-law with him, and it was
late.
You bet Dean, it was a very pleasant trip without the little hassles along the way. The worst thing I had to contend with was my new clutch cable
which needs a bit of an adjustment now that it has settled in. :thumb
