Suspension

G'day All

Just wanted to get some thoughts on suspensions set up.

My apologies if this has been covered before, but I couldn't find it.

I'm working towards finishing the rolling chassi for my very angry little beetle in the next month or so.

The car is a 57 shell on a modified 58 pan. The pan has the original front end but the rear has been converted to IRS. Engine is a 2110cc, and the aim is to build an angry little weekend warrior that will handle well and kick some ricer buttock.

I have CB performance drop spindles as well as adjusters in the beam.

I need to decide on suspension setups in the next week or so and wanted to get some forum feedback. Note: while I want to the car to perform well I don'e really want to spend thousands on setup.

My other options ar KYB and Bilsteins (not sure I can afford the Bilsteins though)

I had a quote for Konis today Front $150 each Rear $135 each, does this sound right?????

I also intended to run Whiteline front sway bar not sure on rear???

Any one got any recommendations or similar setups that they can comment on???

Cheers

Brad

Hi Brad,
Greg Ward wrote a very good analytical article in 2001 which was housed at callook.org. Unfortunately, this URL appears to be no longer available, so I'll try to attach my local copy of that article to this post.

Go to

http://www.aircooled.net/gnrlsite/resource/articles/handling.htm

The guy who wrote it has done his fair share of research/trial and error with suspension set ups.

I wish I still had my 2110, strong motor, have fun.
