I recieved it just now.

"Microsoft Customer

this is the latest version of security update, the "October 2003, Cumulative Patch" update which fixes all known security vulnerabilities affecting MS Internet Explorer, MS Outlook and MS Outlook Express. Install now to protect your computer from these vulnerabilities, the most serious of which could allow an attacker to run code on your system. This update includes the functionality of all previously released patches."


A clue that it is not real is in the way it describes the patch.
MS always refer to their patches in the format of "MS03-039 " or "824146" and never so vague as here, also as a .exe is is classed by MS as a category 1 risk therefore it is highly unllikely that they would ever mail out an executable in this manner - You will notice that if you have all the latest outlook patches installed you can no longer access attachments such as .exe

Funny how I started receiving them very soon after updating my Windows XP, hmmmm

They must be tracking people who are on the update page???

Well that's my theory for now ;):thumb

When I got the email I was very sus., and figured that I would go to the Microsoft site itself as I normally do

There are a few dodge MS look alikes around:cussing

MS is dodgy anyway the way they work but these people are scum:cussing:cussing

I have received that dreaded phoney Microsoft patch again today... and it does have an attachment...
Microsoft NEVER sends attachments....
So I'm difinately Not opening them this time...LOL :D:D:D

No more phoney Microsoft but everything else!!

My Ad-Aware program is not cleaning them up:cry

They seem to sneak past these protective programs now:mad:

Think they snuck in on the dodgy Microsft email???

Does anyone else have them????

or is it only me:cry

p.s. just got an email from them (well I think it's them) trying to flog an anti pop-up program. The bastards!!!!

I sent a not too nice email back, so if I'm not here tomorow or here after you'll know they got me:jesus

Well I told them they were scum.

OK I shouldn't a replied, I know. They are driving me insane anyway. Getting past all my defence programs:mad:
