1600 t1 top end rebuild
hello....
i am planning on rebuilding the top end on a AD 1600cc type1 engine, the reason for that is that this engine came out of a burned out bug and the
piston rings and valves guides condition is unknown...
i am not intending to split the case, just replacing piston rings, rebuilding the heads, and honing the cylinders....
is there any way to inspect the conrod and main bearing WITHOUT splitting the case in order to decide wheter it's nessecery or not....
thanx..

What condition are your pistons and cylinders in?
I'd check the crank end-float, and the side clearances on the big-ends, then inspect the condition of the pistons and barrels. I'd
personally replace anything that looks suspect or is close to wear limits. You won't regret doing the job properly. The peace-of-mind is well
worth the extra expense.
