Given the boot !!!!!

Did anyone notice in Sunday Telegraph's Cars guide: Given the Boot...
Story of a fellow in WA who made a BBQ out of His VW - by putting the BBQ where the boot was... a photo was shown where the Engine Lid was open at the top and a BBQ plate was sitting on top of it...
the story was that instead of wrecking His VW He made it into a BBQ... All Crap..

the Beetle was registered with early model over rider bumpers and tail lamps but with a 1970 engine lid and a rear window louvre
.I think the journalist made the story up....
plus He doesn't know the difference between the engine and the boot!!!!
Lee

I'd luv to make a barbie out of the front of a big old yank tank. 58 Chev would be cool. All the chrome and working lights and indicators.

Oh yeah, that 'bogan' you are talking about, I know him. His name is Pat, and he is an upholsterer by trade. He did the hood liner in my beetle - very cheap and top notch work.

He's the same bloke who won the $10,000 holiday on Better Homes and Gardens for Australias best BBQ. He's also the same bloke that gave that holiday away to his best mate because he thought he needed it more.

As for whether the bug was his or not, I think it came out of a wreckers. I know for sure it had been hit in the front and all it was good for was a BBQ.

Fiar enough if the journo doesnt know shit from shinola, but dont bag good blokes like pat if you dont know them.

Doug,
I was attacking the journo not the VW owner... I never attack VW owners... He sounds like a nice bloke...
the journo didn't know the difference between the boot and the engine lid.. {there was another old VW in the background..)
I'd say the Journo was given the pic and had to write the story... He didn't actually say whether the car was smashed or cut off or whatever.... the BBQ on the beetle did look neat...
cheers
Lee
PS.. I know see You were talking to Black_math...
