Does anyone know what the disc brake kits cost, front and or rear?

I purchased the rear disc brake kit from CBB for $770.00 2 years ago from memory that was including Gst. Was really happy with the kit works so much
better than the drum rear set up.
Not sure if the price has gone up at all best give them a call 02 47 229 313.
As for the front can not help you, seen the ones you are talking about at the Picnic Day last weekend on the stretched bus they built, man they are
HUGE.
Each to their own just remember what goes around come around.

Yeah they are huge, and would pull up my 3 tonne kombi quite nicely although the thought of running 55 series tyres or less is quite frightening to
me. Its a pity the stretch bus didnt stay VW powered so they could use that spave foor an extra 2 rows of seats. Would make a great party bus.
I like the interior treatment up front though. It looks very clean under dash area.
Kombi kid, I'm going to get out my leather gear. I'm sure you will be impressed.

1300 at least for the kombi, 410 for a trailer, 900 for a fastback, passengers, tools, luggage etc. easily 3t.
At the moment I dont have an engine so brakes are least of my worries. But I have an ear pricked up. What are the details?

Guys the CBB disk brake kits are based on the VT commodore parts. Holden stuffed up something on the braking system in these models, and had to do a
massive recall. As a result, huge amounts of front and rear discs and calipers can be purchased for very cheap (about 3-400 for a set of front and
rear discs and calipers with little or no wear). the front discs are a fat double ventilated rotor, with 2 spot pistons, and the rear a solid disc
with and internal drum for the handbrake.
A number of people are capitilising on this like 'Hoppers stoppers' and 'CBB' by developing upgrade kits for older cars using
these parts.
I am not too sure what the defect causing the recall was, but i can only assume it is not too serious or else holden would be destroying the removed
parts instead of letting the mechanics keep and re-sell them.
A mate has used them on his EH holden with a kit he developed himself and has no complaints.
Anyway the guys at CBB reckon their kit with the holden calipers needs a minimum of 16" wheels to clear the caliper which rules me and my
15" merc rims out.
I am thinking of perhaps trying to make my own kit one day using the same discs and calipers, and trying to get the required clearance with my wheels,
but that wont be for a good while yet.

Front is $990.00 inc GST , rear is $770.00 including Gst.
as for needing 16" rims as stated by kombicol... i dont know where your info comes from as i have had the kits on my split for two years and run
at the moment 195/50/15. yes 15 inch rims. not a worry.

The guys at CBB told me when i phoned some time ago i had to have the 16s so i lost interest in the kit, however my interest has now been rekindled,
as i like the design of the VT caliper and disc.
Cool. that is what i like about this forum you get the good oil from people who have actually done what u are contemplating doing.

not a worry. would recommend them to anybody. jsut visited mike yesterday and saw a set fitted to a 67 split from central coast. he is running 15x6
alloys and will have a very quick 1916 fitted soon also. looks good.

they still say that 16 inch rims are required for the kit
i did think it was odd that 15" rims would't fit when they were standard on the commodore, but though it may be due to where they put the
caliper
my merc rims are 15x 6 1/2 , ET 37 s what are you running (you gave a tire size before)??
so they can even get them to fit with 15" alloys hey? they are usually thicker than steel rims and have even less clearance

Only the power upgrade kit requires the big rims.....
Standard kits can still use even 14" rims...
Need to read the whole page...
