I am restoring a Karmann Ghia convertible Its running a 1916cc motor with 94mm Pistons. do I need to run an oil cooler? it has the stock dog house,
and I was reading on the net somewhere that any vdub motor doesnt need an external cooler up to 2000cc True? if I do need one where should I mount it?
and what kind?. and also I have a mid mount webber dcn I think. Choke size Jets not sure of either. any help would be great
Thankyou
Paul

Everyone has their own opinion.
I like keeping the oil temperature down. I have a mild 1776 in my kombi and it would run up past 110 degrees on a cool day. With external oil cooler
and thermo fan, it doesn't get past 90 degrees uphill in a heatwave.
I have a mesa oil cooler 72 plate. Works a complete treat. Glance at the cool engine and drive on:thumb
Make sure you keep the original doghouse oil cooler, and make sure your tinware is sealing well to keep head temperature down.
