INCORRECT Skewytype3,
There were done on a BEETLE Chassis....
they were a replacement for the beetle and were ONLY sold in South America....

I Love them, and have always wanted one
I don't believe there are any in Australia
they were only made in LHD.... Lee

I have seen one in the flesh in Adelaide. A guy who lived at Littlehampton about 20 years ago had one of them and a T4. Both the VW ivory/whitish colour. He was an Austrian fellow who migrated via South Africa in the '70s and bought his cars over. Had two really cool old Puch motorcyles. One was waay cool 50s style with the two tone strawberries and cream paintjob and the toaster panel tank. I was not as into VWs then but was already a bike nut so I was too busy looking at the bikes to really appreciate the two dubs. Did look right over them. By memory the T4 had the kombi style 1800 in it and the Brisilia a pancake T1. I recall the deck was flat at the back and spent ages looking at how they got it all so flat. I was more used to seeing big truck or hot up v8's in my Dads shed so the pancake engine was a bit of a buzz to look over for the first time. Its funny, this was one of my first VW 'moments' I always like them because they had a different style of thought into everything they did. Well different to what I had been exposed to by then. The T4 was really nice, had done stuff all Kms and had a walnet type timber panel on the dash with the clocks in it. Had the obligatory vase too. Guy barely used them. Had one of the Puchs as a daily rider and had a light truck for everything else. He lived on a 'hobbyfarm' orchard. Might be woth keeping an eye out for by the Adelaide readers. Lived on the left of the Handorf/Littlehampton road about a km from Littlehampton. Mind you its probably a suburb now.
