My current and last (first) project
These first two pics are of my current project. A 1978 Karmann Cabrio. I bought it from a guy in Queensland earlier in the year who had just
imported it out from California. It had a fuel injected engine but somebody did a poor job at converting it to a carby. I saw a fi unit on ebay and
bought it so the engine will be fi again. I also bought an a/c unit for it which was removed from a l-bug in america.

These pics are of my old beetle which I restored, but not to the state which I will do my current bug to. It got 100% new rubbers, reco engine/gearbox
and new
paint. It also had quarter window pop-outs.

I love anything with a Karmann name to it. Looks like it will be another great car for our roads. Keep us posted

(I have two login names.)
I have had the car since march. Progress is going soo slow because I am no longer a student and I go to 21st all weekend and don't get up till
2pm. I have decided to clean up and spray all the non-visible parts body parts of the car. But will ship it off to someone else to do all the exterior
panel beating and final painting because I want this car to be the best in Australia but dont have the money to pay somebody else to do 100% of the
body work. (I did all body work and spraying on my old car.)
I am still looking for another rack and pinion bug which I can use as a donor car, because I still need to get the metal located behind the dash
chopped out and a rhd version welded in. From this car I can then get the rack, dash, pedal assembly, wiring harness and many other parts just for
spare.

Like wise - great work and welcome.
Curiosity question - are you converting it to RHD ? If so, as it sounds like you are building a concourse car, where are you getting the dash
recovered / reubilt etc ?

I have to get the car converted to RHD. I am pretty sure that the car has to be 30 years or old for it to be registered LHD.
When I can find one, I will buy a RHD rack and pinion bug, where I can get the dash out of it, but have not even started thinking about a place to get
the dash restored.

Your old bug wouldn't happen to be Kim's (Golde 60) would it. Now riding with a lowered front?
