Tyres - Kombi
Hi All. The Dunlop Arrow tyres on my Campervan have gone 'funny'. Concave in the centre, just enough to feel with your hands, and one or
probably two have some carcass separation, which can also be felt with the hands. This accounts for the wobbly steering at low speeds, and when
starting off. My tyre man says he's never seen this on the Arrow tyre...
Any advice, please? On what to replace them with. Michelin, Pirelli, or should I go for Light truck tyres? Ugh! What do you Kombi folks use?
Keeping in mind that the Kombi was rated at 2.3 tonnes GVM, and family sedans ...1.5 tonnes GVM ?
Colin - what do you run on, if I may ask?
Note: This is a library computer, and I can only get here once a week, at the earliest, or once a fortnight. Thanks. Cheers.

I always go for the light truck tyres.
Which brand is up to you, and your wallet!
I've never had any trouble from retreads, my kombies have never gone fast enough, the only ones i've ever replaced are due to punctures in
the side wall.
hope this helps

I generally prefer the light truck tyres. The only new tyres I've tried were Michelin wintertreads. I was quite happy with them for my purposes
(offroading and general commuting), but they would probably be too noisy on the highway for most.

Kombi Tyres
Thanks, Fellas. I might go for Pirelli tyres.
They have a more modern tread pattern than the old Dunlops, and are a llittle wider, 'though I hope this doesn't make the steering heavier
when parking.
My poor wife, the few times she drives the van around town, gets sore arms.
The new light truck tyres I've seen and handled are VERY heavy, and the walls are much stiffer. Sure, they'll carry a heavier load, but not
so comfy.
The Librarian lady is kicking me out ! Must be near 8 pm.
Best. Might see you at Dromana Drive In.

Hey there,,
I put Bridgestone 185 light trucks on. Have done 56,000 on them in three years
Fronts look as though I could get another 30,000 out of them but rears need replaceing in about 5000, never got around to rotating them, used to look
and think about it thats all..you can go down in the side wall size which makes a softer ride, but to make it lighter on the steering the trucks take
I think around 45psi.

I have been running Australian allrounder light truck on the Kombi, get 2 years out of them the Kombi handle's better and I use it as a daily
driver.LT the way to go! and most insurance companys policy's demand them anyway, no LT's no pay out!

I'm also running Bob Jane Allrounders and have had no problems. Then again, I've never had anything else so I've got nothing to compare
too!!

I'm running GT Radials 225x16 50 series, front & rear. They are a top tyre. But probably a bit big for most Kombies. Still I like them
