bay panel differences - am i mad?

was just at the local wreckers looking at a bay panel converted to part camper, and a couple of things struck me. it had a spare wheel well like a microbus, mine doesnt; it was missing the vent in the rear panel that mine has, and it had a roller style accelerator like those found on a 76 microbus, but completely different to my 76 panel. the bus apeared to be a 75 - 79 model. why is it so different? was there different models of panel?

baybuscamperkid,
Can't say that's all that unusual. VW was all over the place in the '70's with some models partially made here, some assembled and some fully imported, so yes, there can be a wide variety of Kombi's in the one year.
When you throw different models into the equation the list of difference also multiplies.

my panel '75 has the spare under the front seat, no walkthrough, no tyre well in the back and no engine hatch. Thought it was a little longer inside too but a looksee at a walkthrough bay that Tazz had showed them to be the same.

you could order a pannel with a walk trough cab, then the spare had to go in the well above the engine.

ok thanks. that explains the walkthrough and wheel well, but the absence of a louvered vent in the upper rear corner of the rear panel infront of the engine air scoops is still bugging me. also, mine is a non-walkthrough, without wheelwell, but it has got the engine lid!?!

come on now dubnut, no need to get angry, if u had checked my other post about the stuff u would have seen that i had taken it off then dumped it!:P, and as far as i am concerned, i could get a whole bus for the same money as that trim, so no way i would payt that much just for some chrome (even my engine will hopefully not cost much more then that trim would have:D)
