he he, I love this topic.
in my doublecab I've got a Blaupunkt 250w 3 way 6"x9" in each front door and eack side of the rear tailgate window, driven by a
Blaupunkt 4x200w amp, and under the back seat, Ive got 2 Blaupunkt and 2 Ultimate 10" subs driven by a 6x100w Rockford amp. the sub amp has been
bridged to 2 channels (makes about 500w per side) and runs 2 subs wired up on each channel.
is it loud?
dunno, all I hear is a constant ringing in my ears
yes the car is still for sale
No this system doesn't come with the car

Rhys,
at peak power @ say 13.5 volts that's 370 amps to the subs. I think you'll be cooking the kombi rather than rattling it.

I have a crappy Sony AM-FM radio cassette player that eats tapes and fades off stations. 6 nice speakers though - 4 in the front and two in the
rear.
I've asked Santa to bring me a nice new radio CD player with the groovey coloured lights and display. Not sure if I've been a good boy
though.

I've never understood remotes I must admit. When I change the telly channel at home, I get up, walk over and turn the knob.
Same with the Kombi - I have to get up and walk to the fridge to get a beer, so I might as well lean over and manually change the CD!
I'd probably lose the remote anyway or let the batteries go flat.
What brand of ICE players do people recommend? I would like to avoid Sony, Voxson and TEAC if possible...

I have used blaupunkt for years and have nothing but praise for it. and it's a german brand.
funny story, I had my '73 camper broken into, that's not that funny, but that had a blaupunkt system in it, theives stole a stack of
cd's from the glovebox, a camera,my boogie board, wetsuit etc, and a stack of of camping gear, but the stereo wasn't even touched. maybe cos
it said blaupunkt on it and not sony, kenwood, or pioneer. no flashy displays on it or unnecessary b.s. just pure business:thumb

I've got no complaints about the JVC head unit, it's worked a treat
I have found the keychain remote that came with it handy in two situations:
(1) when we're at camping and sitting outside I will often use it to change the volume or skip tracks etc.
(2) when sleeping in the back of the Kombi (especially in winter!!) I like to play music before shuteye time so I usually use the remote for picking
tracks, chaging volume, changing stations etc without having to get up.
The remote doesn't get much use on the daily drive but I have found it handy
