Fuel consumption - Type 3's
Hi all,
I've searched through previous threads but can't seem to find much information on what sort of fuel consumption I could expect from the
various kinds of Type 3s. Most of the threads focus on Beetles and Kombis only.
In particular of interest would be Squarebacks with standard (or close to standard) motors. Am I off track in thinking that Fastbacks, Notchbacks and
Squarebacks have similar motors? If that's the case then feedback on fuel consumption on any Type 3 variation would be much appreciated.
Cheers

early type 3's had 1500's and lates had 1600's
squares are heavier but this shouldnt realy make a consumption difference
i get a healthy week from a tank, maybe a little less than a week, push it hard, lotsa stop start drinks it harder too.
gotta 1641 in mine
hope this helps a little

Gotta also remember single carb vs twin carb models. My 64 square with the single side draft carby was excellent on fuel but i honestly couldnt tell
u how far i got although it is wasnt much worse than my 1990 pulsar. Looks better though....

I used to get about 20 odd mpg in my 69 Fastback, usually in peakhour traffic. Haven't bothered to check the 65 though.
