How to be a moderator (beginnings of a FAQ)
This post is an informal post, which I will add to as time goes along.
How to become a moderator
From time to time, we need one or more new moderators or admins. This will become apparent when things aren't working properly, either on a
social or technical level. Right now, we're fine.
The reasons for choosing a moderator are many, but the primary ones are:
a) respect within the VW community
b) services to the VW community, particularly this forum, but local clubs also acknowledged
c) skill in the area to be moderated is well noted and agreed
d) ability to get on with a goodly percentage of the members
e) history of helping new and existing forum members out
Things that also help are common sense and a grasp of our language, but aren't mandatory.
The process generally works like this:
it's noted somehow that we need new people
A discussion ensues in Moderator's Paradise on likely potential victims
Feedback will probably be sought in the General topics forum
And typically, the final decision is Brad and Jim's
So far, as far I as I can make out, we generally adopt one to three moderators per year, and as many seem to drop out simply because life catches up
with them for whatever reason. This is normal.
And before you ask, as far as I am aware, we have no current openings.
