Don;t touch one from Honkers! Tropical climate, close to salt water = rust! I've seen a few benzes and Porsches from HK and they were shocking. Get a Cal or Texas car and convert to RHD.

Well it all started when a friend bought an old 911 and I love driving it but love VW's so he sugested as I am not ipresed with the performance options for my T3 to check out the 914's as they are VW type 4 powered.
Found heaps of info on the net and realy like the look of the cars, the performance figers are good at over 100bhp std. Plus there a mid mounted format meaning they will handle very well.
I have found one that needs work for $10 000 which is sill rich for me at the moment but by the end of next year I could have one just want to colect as much info and advice until then.
1302Steve I must admit that I am 6 foot tall so Im going to have to find one and sit in it as that dose worry me.
Thanks for the intrest and the links cheers Nige:thumb

If not a 914 what about a 912E?

I think they were available in Australia. The E was a stop gap after the 924 and used up left over Type 4 motors as opposed to other 912's that used the other non VW 4 cylinder motor

You are (as per usual !) correct.

One of the gentlemen at work drives one, except his as had the Porsche motor removed and replaced with a worked VW type 4 (heads and cam and crank differences between the Porsche and VW version I think ?).

Reckon a 914 would be sweet with a big block type 4 in it - like 2.5 - 2.6L

Hi Nige

Im just over 6'1" and I couldn't get my leg under the steering wheel, a removable steering wheel might help.

I just uploaded the new 4 sales for Club VeeDub Sydney and there is a 914 4 sale.
