Ball Joint front end limiters
If you are using a ball joint front end off-road you need to add limiters so that the ball joints don't get pulled out or damaged. The idea here
is to give you as much travel as possible and limit the travel just before the Ball joint binds.
To set it up it is best to do it with out torsion bars in as it makes it easier to feel the binding of the ball joint. Simply jack up the front and
keep feeling the stub for easy movement, when it gets tight this means the ball joint is binding, back it off 5mm and set you limiters there.
I have played with a lot of designs for these and have found the following to be the easiest and quickest to fit.
Using some 50 x 6 mm strap cut a 2" hole through it. Then shape the other end into a curve.
Test fit and make any changes to get a snug fit.
Then simply take it in place and add a piece of 40 x 6mm angle to act as a stopper. You will see from the angle here that it doesn't line up
exactly. This is because I allow for a 6mm strip of rubber to stop any banging noise.
Then pull it all apart and fully weld it up. Allow to cool and then clean it up paint it and get out there and play.

Brad, have you had any experience with seat belt strap limiters like the Offroad Racers use?

Yep
I hav run them but found they just got in the way. I was conecting them to teh bottom shock mount and the top shock mount and having them made to
suit. The reason offroad race cars use them is casue they get so much damn wheel travel. I found that the above method simplified the issue some what.
I see Dave is running them on his Baja, well wire ones anyway.

Has anyone tried welding the stops off a linkpin front beam onto a balljoint beam, so they work the same as the early, on the top arm .

If you see how crap the stock link pin stops are when abused offroad you will realise why even people with linkpin front ends don't run them.
So that's a no
