How And Where To Get Bumper Bars Rechromed

I bought new Brazillian bumpers for my '71 bug a few months ago and even though I rub them dry whenever I come in from the rain, rust marks are developing (I could kill the Brazillian manufacturers right now).

So I've decided to get them professionally rechromed so that I never have to worry about them again. Does anyone have any ideas of where to get this done?

I have heard of a place called the Bronzing Studio...

Problem with Brazilian parts is that the base metal isn't all that good and is prone to rust no matter how much you rechrome it.

Find some original german bumpers and have them rechromed. The end result will be much better.

Expect Brazilian chrome bumpers to have a 2 year life and just keep replacing them! Thats what they do in the UK!

Cheers

Steve

Just got the chrome stripped on my 356 wheels. The place I used was Astor Metal Finishers in Villawood. They do a lot of old car stuff and charged me $100 to remove the chrome from 2 wheels

See http://www.astormetalfinshers.com  or call 02 9727 5622

Let us know how you get on

Cheers

Steve

Thanks. I have heard from multiple people now that the Brazillian bars will still rust even after rechroming so I'll just try some coats of clear spray paint and get my brother in law to bring some original bars from South Africa.
