Disc Brake Backing Plates

I am converting the front end of my 71 std beetle to disc brakes. I have got myself parts for the conversion and the backing plates need to be repainted. I am thinking powdercoating. Has anyone any suggestion with the best means of re-finishing?

does not really matter but powder coat would be best lasting and probally more durable to stone chips and the like.
