Silicone leads warning
I bought some silicone plug leads from the US. It has a warning "not for road use", why? Is this a US thing?

I was told that they are no good for VW's the Original ones are the best for any engine regardless of the modifications

I recently bought a new set of Bosch (German) leads specific for a Kombi (type 4 motor) and they were silicon leads.
Haven't tried them yet but have been assured they are fine??

Warning would most probably be related to the shielding/interferance caused by the leads.If using "on road" they might cuse froblems with
radios etc. Don't worry about it!!!!!:bounce

Could also be due to Cali "dont mod" laws.
They also have "off road use only" on K&N filters
In Cali i dont think you can even change underpants unless it is C.A.R.B. labelled

A month ago I went down to my local VW parts shop and asked for a set of silicon spark plugs leads. It was met with looks of horror and a warning not
to ever use them. I think that the reason was the reliability of these new lead as the original leads are more reliable with the VW ignition
system.
I bought the original type.

on the other hand i've ben using top gun silicon leads for six months with no probs from them per se.... but they have a different connection on
the spark plug end and can blow off at high revs. meh. i just sqwished the bastards back on real hard... so far so good...:o

I have a roll of top gun stuff here that I cut up for people who wanna use it. It has a copper wire centre.I still prefer to use the original

Hi
Im very impressed with Magnacore leads, very well made. When buying leads for an aircooled car you must ensure that ends near the spark plug fit the
tinware properly. I have found silicon leads to be very fragile if they are removed often.
