push button ignition?
My '77 microbus deluxe has push button ignition. Is this a modification? The car is otherwise pretty much fully original but I can't imagine
this would be an original feature... does anyone know?

No its not origional.. Usaually installed when the ignition switch fails.
The switch innards are proberly cheaper than installing a push button.

Hmmmm I've been thinking of installing one of these, ever since the new Falcon GT came out with the push button - it looks so cool ... mmmMMmmm
some brushed aluminum buttons along the dash may just be the trick ... hmmm

cheers!
No it's a yellow and white bus with a black button.
It works well though. Never had a problemo with it. Looks kinda cool but I'd prefer if it to be fully original. Might change it back one day...

the lower section of the ignition switch is only about $40.00 and 2 screw drivers to install it.

My push button, with mounting plate, cost me about $7
No, its not in my current kombi. I fitted it to my previous bus when the ignition switch failed. For $40 I probably would have bought the correct
switch, but I was quoted over double that... :puke

Ditto.
I was also quoted nearly double that 4 years ago.
I had a push button, so it cost nothing.
Great for getting going again if you stall it. Dont have to <off key> <on key>
