Beetles minus Running boards

was thinking of doing away with the running boards all together and filling the gap in the channels with foam or something. and painting over this. has anyone seen a beetle minus the running boards?

or have some pics?

cheers

firstly foam will hold water and your arse will be draggin on the ground due to a swiss cheese pan
secondly the car would look unfinished cos the end of the gaurds would be hanging out looking all whack !

r.boards are so old school, gotta love 'em !

i havent got any pics as no one does it.......

Hi

This another car that I have, it was done to this one in the late 70s with steel to increase rigidity.
