Rocker cover breathers

So to all you people out there with breathers in your rocker covers, how do you connect them up?
I have my own ideas, but am curious to see what other people do!!
Cheers,

Usually to a breather box

I prefer the CB oil filler/breather box

From there i take if off to the carbs to put some negative pressure on it.
I dont like the rocker cover as it makes for a bugger takin it on and off

Boy, for all the people that recommend them not many comments!!

What I'm planning, and apparently what the factory did?? is to send the rocker cover breathers (actually they are in the head not the tin cover for me) to a separate breather and the case breather to the carb inlet (normal position) to give a constant air flow through the case.

Sound like a good idea? I wonder if there is any difference having air flow the opposite direction (as in into case, out heads)???

Well my rocker cover and the oil fill breather all go to the breather box, which is located on my fan housing. :thumb

Mine is the same as Craigs & I've also got one from where the fuel pump used to be as well, don't put them into your carby tops, it's beyond me why people do that.

Andy i don't consider the cast alloy breather boxs to be large enough capacity espesialy if you are planing any big revs!!!.Dyno has done one of his own, it is a round s/s cylinder with a fixed top and bottom and it has 3 of 16mm hoses coming into the sides of the top of it(sorry cylinder stands vert) 1 from each rocker cover and 1 from breather on the side of Alt stand(for those that don't know Dyno's buggy runs a Type 4 with upright kit) and then a small brass tap on the bottom and a small ,goes onto a 20mm s/s pipe on top foam/mesh breather(these are available from leon's). From what i have seen so far it works really well even at high revs for long periods in rough offroad terain .Allright you guessed it we have been racing each other again, hope this helps.:thumb:thumb:thumb. run a 3inch tube about 40cm long across the top of the fan shroud with, lines going in the top from the breathers and 2 vents, and the alt breather comes in from the end. works well, just make sure all ur lines are nice and straight and not bent to sharply.

This is a bit off topic but what exactly to breather boxes do? When I got my car it had a scat one but it wasn’t connected to anything so I just removed it. Is it worth having and how would I go about reconnecting it?

Thanks Justin

They are to relieve internal pressure

This can be from too much blow by or just too big of an engine.

The stock set up has it. You need some pressure relief even on a stock motor.

the factory system with the breather to the air intake is fine for a std engine if u start modding and getting a higher and faaster breathing u will need better breathing.
