Not sure how the 1600 will mate up to the 36hp tranny. I put a 1600 (1916) into my Oval but I already had a 1200 tranny in it. I had to clearance the bellhousing to fit the flywheel, change the starter motor and bushing to fit the 12V flywheel, not sure about the clutch throw-out (?) bearing).

Tinware needed to be trimmed to fit.

Converting to 12V = change bulbs, resisters to wiper motor and semaphores, change battery and maybe regulator. I had an auto electrician do all this work for me.

this may sound like a stupid question, but wheres the best place to run the resistors for the semaphores etc?

and a even stupider Q, if the resistors are the 'normal' ones i used to flog from the physics lab at school, whats the safest method to attatch them to the electrical wire?

sorry bout the hijak

I would run the in the front of car behind the wiring cover. Use a terminal block with screw lugs on it easy to mount easy to purchase from Dick Smiths

1600

To fit a 1600tp into an oval I kept the 6v starter used a 1300 flywheel(has the same centre as 1600 and 6v teeth, and is 180mm, original 1200 clutch and plate and throw out bearing and changed everything else to 12v. Have very little change to tinware. The semaphores are ok kept 6v but make sure your flasher unit is 12v and works, or the semaphores may fry if they are out too long. I used a 12v kombi wiper motor and customised the original mechanism to fit. volma1

They are still there, just have faith you'll find one.
