The term "stage 1,2 etc." is really a generic tuning term rather than a hard and fast description.
Rarely are there the exactly the same timings and lifts between any two different branded "stage 2" cams.
Every cam designer will have their own spin on what a "stage 2" cam is as far as timings, lobe seperations and lifts are concerned and
grinder A'a stage 2 cam may be a towing, low down grunt and economy cam and grinder B's cam may be quite a hotter design depending on what
context of tuning such as Off-road, drag, circuit racing, towing, all-round street use and so on and so on the grinder likes to specialise in.
The only way to answer your question is to compare different stage 2 cams from different grinders bearing in mind the intention of a stage 2 cam in
the first place.

If yuv got the bread dude get a real cam designed for vws,Webcam,Engle,Berg,Pobjoy,Scat,Bugpack,the right cam is critical,too much cam and your engine
is a dog,not enough cam and its a waste.:thumb |

There must be 50 different cam brands and probally 1000s of different grinds
Do you know where or who the cam came from ... You need to know lift and duration

But wait !!! here is where some local knowledge makes a difference.
Did you get the cam ground locally ? (ie in Perth ?) If so, can you tell me who ground it, and which vw shop (if any ) you went through ?
Reason I ask is that there are only one or two cam grinders in Perth for a start, and only one that I am aware of for vw's. MOST (but obviously
not all) of the 'stage two' cams around in Perth are a High Speed Conversions grind (HSC was a vw speed shop in the 70's and 80's,
long since bust, but the cam grinds live on). You will know if it is one of these because all the HSC cams have HSC and the stage number stamped on
the cam gear.
Vee Dub Center in Osborne park still stocks these cams on their shelf. They might know the specs - or at least their supplier should.
Having said all that, the cam grinder should (if your lucky) be able to give you the specs. If not, I am sure there is still a few ex HSC (if it does
prove to be a HSC cam) employees working in Perth somewhere. Ask Bill or Chris at Volkswest, they have been in the game for years and may be able to
help.
PS - I have found that my HSC stage 2 runs out of puff by the low 5000 rpm range (i have counterweighted crank in my 1835 w/ kadrons). Just something
to think about if your motor is wild and has webers or whatever

Rang osborne park cam shop ,long story behind this cam ,it was from a USA cam that was imported ( copy ) back in the days of high speed conversions
.I have now just found the guy ( grant ) that may know more .seagull
