Is the Little Bad Buggers trip tp Double Island still on the 3-5 jan. still going ahead.
Where are they camping, freshwater or on the beach, thought I might make a day trip of it.

I was up there 2 weeks ago (in the hilux) and the ranger office gave me the following times for the month...

Saturday 03

0547 at 1.61
1212 at 0.81 (low tide)
1729 at 1.28
2329 at 0.54 (low tide)

Sunday

0626 at 1.70
1259 at 0.75 (lowtide)
1815 at 1.21

and will throw in Monday

0002 at 0.49 (lowtide)
0700 at 1.78
1338 at 0.70 (lowtide)
1855 at 1.20

with the usual advice being that it is best to travel 2 hrs either side of low tide (even better before low tide- unless you want your car to be on the service station wall submerged like many others..)

If you are not keen on driving at high tide, it takes about 80minutes to go via Gympie and Rainbow Beach..

But have fun anyway...

We've just come back from spending a week camped at Freshwater and had an absolute blast. The tides have been real bizarre the last two days though as low tide hasnt really been going out, so even at low tide you're still trudging through the soft stuff. The looks on peoples faces as we drove the kombi past bogged 4wd's was priceless......... We also had the crowd on the rocks cheering as we towed a manx up the beach and around the rocks with the kombi when it had run out of fuel....
