Hi Rhys,
If fdisk claims there is no HD then there is prolly no HD. Does the HD show up on the initial boot up screen? Check the orientation of the signal
cable - the red stripe goes to pin 1, both ends.
Disconnect the CD ROM drive so that it is out of the equasion and see if fdisk can locate the HD, you may have both set to master or slave - if they
are both on the same cable, that is.

All (well, most anyway) new hard drives are set to 'cable select' so it's possible that both the HD & CD are argueing about
priorities. Good luck!

No, there is only the signal cable and power supply. The pin 1 of the HD is nearest the power supply connection, on the mainboard you may/ may not be
able to discern where the pin 1 is. Normally there is a keyway on the cable itself which makes it very hard to plug in incorrectly.
If you access the BIOS on boot-up there should be the option to auto detect hard drives, if the HD can't be found in this manner, and connections
are OK it may well be a faulty HD.

You need to get into your BIOS settings and change the Hard Drive detection to AUTO. On most computers this is a matter of pressing the DEL key on
your keyboard. Also make sure that the jumper settings on your Hard Drive are set to master not cable select. The CD-Rom jumper should be slave. You
will find the jumpers near the ribbon cables. For you to be able to use your CD-ROM from a boot disk you need to have a Windows 98 Bootdisk as these
have CD-ROM drivers as Windows 95 Bootdisks don't.

You can buy the cable any length you like from Tandys or Dick Smiths stores. As for the tuner you need software for that to work

It usually comes with the tuner card, but if you have KaZa lite someone might have one for you to download
You will need to know the TV Tuner manufacturer to download the correct driver for a start otherwise it will not work properly. then you can do a
search @ http://www.google.com for some software.

Check to see if the MUTE has note been activated. Click on the sound icon on the system tray or goto Start > Settings > Control Panel >
Sounds.
With the beeping sounds did you remove your graphics card from the computer before you installed the TV Tuner ?? If you didn't then these are in
conflict with each other and hence the beeping sounds.

2 places you will find the brand of card.
1 in device manager Right ckick mouse on My Computer Left click on Properties then on Device manager.
or
2 take the cover off the computer and look on the card itself.
If you didn't find a MUTE button in the sound manager you should see a small icon on your system tray near the clock double click on it and you
should get volume control the MUTE will be there

Now we are getting somewhere.
"microsoft kernel system renderer" is part of the information put on your computer during a device driver installation usually a graphics or
sound driver.
Do you just have an ordinary graphics card installed on your computer or is it the TV Tuner ?????
No matter which it is I would say that the driver is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled. Goto
http://www.driversguide.com
and do a search for the driver you need.
But before you go to that site you really need to identify your graphics card as to download the correct driver.

Hi Rhys,
Microsoft kernel system renderer could also be a part of direct X. Re-load it off the GForce driver CD. or download it from Microsoft.
Cheers,
Barry...

Manufacturer is GeForce
64 bit technology
uses 64 MB RAM
able to use as TV
If you didn't get the driver on CD where you got the computer from you should be able to download it from
http://www.driversguide.com
Once you enter the site click on driver search then type in GeForce in the search area then look for the driver that matches GEFORCE2 64 bit 64MB SDR

Chipset is GeForce 2
64 bit technology
has 64 MB of SD RAM
has a composite video plug in the back (like a yellow RCA plug) that allows you to plug an RCA video lead to your TV or Video and use the TV as a
computer monitor. Really good if you have a big TV and like playing computer games!
Basic translation : Good video card to run games on!
...one question Rhys - What type of TV card did you buy? 'cause the TV out function on this card only allows you to view the computer stuff on a
TV.
-Barry.
