9in wide wheels on a split?

Can this be done?
I have found a set of porsche wheels but am thinking the 17x9 ET55's will be too big to get on the rear (17x7's for the front). My '66 will be getting an IRS kit from Indian in the next couple of months and the later ball joint front will also be going in.
Do any of you guys think this will fit?
Those pics of twoguns kombi have got me going, so he is partially to blame for this! :D
Any ideas.

i wouldnt think so u would have serious problems with the rear rubbing on the springplates. specially when u will have an offset of 55 u should aim for no more then +50!
i think u should just try and get some 6.5" and put on fat rubber maybe 225 or something!
but the best person to ask is the CHIEF down at indian!!
cheers
