Late 54 oval
what would you pay for this.
It has the bonnet, front guards, complete original dash, fuel tank, original pan and gearbox, engine lid, doors.
It dosesn't have the rear guards, engine, glass, interior.
would you pay $500 for it.
it may look rusty but its only serface rust, its quite solid and rust free.

How many factory poptop ovals are out there hehehe.
I have recently got me self a 55 oval with a genuine factory sunroof, Its as complete as you can get, but i paid a little to much for it.It has a bit
of cancer in it.
this one above has been offered to me for purchase so i'm just trying to find out what its worth. Any one any idea

If you decide to pass it over can you pass the owners details onto me. I would be very interested at that price. Guess that tells you my opinion.

Is there a Factory sunroof in this 54 ???
If so are the corners square on the roof of the opening, they should be
Later sunroofs from end of 55 had round corners on them
If you dont have the roof mechanism for the sunroof, it going to be a BIG job finding one for sale

Well if the 55 3 fold is rusty, why not get this 54 and graft the sunroof in from the 55. It will be correct sunroof for that car, and as it prolly
wouldnt be original cause of all the missing parts, wont really matter. 3 fold rags ended in aug 55, after that they went to the 2 fold version.

firewalland a little in the bottom of the left door pilla

Mitch years of experience... dont know of any books just looked at cars over the years just go to more VW shows. I suspose early owners manuals

I never thought of the roof section that way. I prefer to call the differences as round or square corners in the roof section What do you think
??
I only know of one origional 54 or Square corner or 3 fold sunroof Beetle up here in Sydney, but its been converted to a hotty years ago... PITY.
My 56 has the round corners and is Origional.

The reason I use 2 or 3 fold is, cause its easier and less confusing, plus thats what most people refer to them as. Also when telling someone new,
there really are three different types, The pre 55 3 fold which has all square corners, the 56 which is a 2 fold has rounded corners at the front anf
sqaure at the back, and the 57 onward which also is a 2 fold but with all corners rounded, it becomes a little much to take in...
